About the opportunity:
The Compliance Officer shall report to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for developing, implementing, administering, and maintaining all aspects of the company’s compliance program. Primary responsibility will be to coordinate and oversee an effective compliance environment and protocol that is in line with current industry best practices, and legal and regulatory guidance and requirements.

 

Salary: $70,000.00 /year

Skills & Experience

Skills

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree
  • 5-10 years’ work experience in compliance and/or risk-management related fields within residential mortgage services.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state residential lending and loan brokering laws and licensing requirements and working knowledge of laws governing the mortgage and real estate industry.
  • Must possess strong organizational, oral, written, and computer skills.

Experience

  • Compliance Mortgage: 5 years (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Develops, administers, and maintains a comprehensive compliance program
  • Enhance, develop, implement and administer appropriate compliance monitoring systems to ensure proper parameters are in place to identify suspicious and/or fraudulent activity.
  • Coordinate and oversee an effective compliance environment and protocol that is in line with current industry best practices, and legal and regulatory guidance and requirements.
  • Completes regular internal risk assessments including but not limited to Fair Lending, AML, etc.
  • Work closely with operations units to identify and investigate transactions that are suspicious in nature.
  • Independently recognize, develop, and implement cost effective compliance related solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring all required internal and regulatory reporting is conducted in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.
  • Develop, prepare, update and revise compliance policies and procedures.
  • Develop for and administer compliance training programs to management and staff, and provide guidance and coaching to employees.
  • Maintain proficient knowledge of all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Stay abreast of and analyze developing industry and compliance trends.
  • Design and implement testing programs to assess compliance with internal operational policies.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the company is in compliance with laws and regulations on both a federal and state level, especially related to consumer protection issues
  • Advises management of emerging compliance issues and provide guidance to the business units in the establishment of controls to mitigate risks
  • Helps ensure compliance by developing the policies, procedures, training, and quality control processes
  • Provides input regarding compliance concerns relevant to proposed and current loan products
  • Reviews all marketing materials including the company website to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations
  • Evaluates and responds to consumer complaints and looks for business practices or trends that require corrective actions
  • Responsible for completing and responding to all audit requests as well as ensuring that any applicable corrective action has been completed
  • Implements and monitors internal controls
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned by the Company.
